Day 1

SYDNEY

Make your way to your accommodation in Sydney. Settle in and get ready to experience Australia’s biggest, brightest and busiest city. Wander over to nearby Chinatown in the evening.

Day 2

BONDI BEACH, SYDNEY

Enjoy a few free hours in the morning before joining your Bondi Beach & Sydney Sights Tour – the perfect introduction to Sydney and its neighbourhoods. Tour through the historic Rocks area and take in views of the Sydney Opera House, Hyde Park, Parliament House and the Art Gallery of NSW. Stop at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair for prime Opera House and Harbour Bridge photo opportunities. Peer over the edge of The Gap at Watson Bay, then walk on the sand at world-famous Bondi Beach. Back on the coach, return to downtown Sydney via Paddington and the city’s exclusive eastern suburbs. (B)

Day 3

BLUE MOUNTAINS

Rising from Sydney’s western suburbs, the Blue Mountains are a World Heritage-listed wonder. Explore the shops in historic Leura with complimentary morning tea in a village cafe. Next stop is Echo Point Lookout in Katoomba, with views of the famous Three Sisters. According to Aboriginal legend, this unusual rock formation represents three sisters who were turned to stone. Continue to Scenic World to ride the Scenic Railway, Scenic Cableway and Skyway (own expense) – a close encounter with the valleys, canyons, forests and walking trails in Blue Mountains National Park. Enjoy a delicious lunch at the award-winning Conservation Hut in Wentworth Falls, then meet some Australian native animals at Featherdale Wildlife Park. To finish your day, sidestep the traffic and cruise down the Parramatta River instead, passing below the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Circular Quay. (B,L)

Day 4

BOARD THE INDIAN PACIFIC IN SYDNEY

Take in any last-minute sights before departing Sydney’s Central Station on the Indian Pacific mid-afternoon. As the anticipation builds for the trip ahead, settle into your first evening on the Indian Pacific with some fabulous food, wine and service and the sociable atmosphere of this much-loved rail journey. Day 5

INDIAN PACIFIC, BROKEN HILL, ADELAIDE, FAREWELL

Wake up deep in the Australian outback, where the historic mining hub of Broken Hill – aka the ‘Silver City’ – is waiting for you to explore. Connect with the town’s world-famous artists and mining heritage with a choice of Off Train Excursions. Your journey continues through South Australia’s scenic southern Flinders Ranges and concludes after lunch in Adelaide, South Australia’s cosmopolitan capital. (B,L)
