DAY ONE – BOARD THE INDIAN PACIFIC IN ADELAIDE

 

Your journey starts with a delicious welcome dinner before joining the Indian Pacific, where you can settle in to your cabin or mingle with fellow travellers in the Platinum Club or Outback Explorer Lounge.

DAY TWO – INDIAN PACIFIC, NULLABOR PLAIN

Travelling Australia’s longest straight stretch of railway is an amazing experience, with the land seemingly endless ahead and behind you. Watch as the outback scenery changes as you journey deeper along the famous Nullarbor Plain. In the afternoon, you will visit the remote ghost town of Cook for a leg stretch followed by dinner under the stars of the vast outback sky (seasonal). (B,L,D)

DAY THREE – INDIAN PACIFIC, PERTH

Enjoy breakfast as the delightful Avon Valley passes by your window. Take time out to enjoy the iconic train as the final stage of this transcontinental crossing unfolds as you head into Perth. There, collect your hire car and prepare for a journey in the city and fabulous Margaret River you will never forget.

DAY FOUR – LEISURE DAY

Today is yours to explore cosmopolitan Perth at your leisure. Stroll Kings Park, visit Barrack Square, or take in the many museums and galleries. Or, utilise your hire car and venture further afield to the historic port city of Fremantle, or the coastal suburb of Scarborough. (B)

DAY FIVE – ROTTNEST ISLAND

A gem of the west, the rich and varied natural wonders of Rottnest Island offer a breadth of spectacular experiences. Enjoy your ferry trip from Perth to Rottnest Island with Rottnest Express. There is so much to see and do on Rottnest Island and your best option is to take a guided tour that lets you make the most of a fabulous day out. You’ll be able to explore the island’s most spectacular locations, see its unique wildlife – including those adorable quokkas – and discover its colourful history. (B,L)

DAY SIX – PERTH TO MARGARET RIVER

Begin your scenic self-drive to fabulous Margaret River along the Kwinana Freeway and Forrest Highway this morning. It takes approximately four hours, with plenty of places to visit along the way. Take a rest stop at the port town of Bunbury, the gateway to the South West and home to bottlenose dolphins that swim close to the beach at Koombana Bay. Nearby is the Dolphin Discovery Centre and the Leschenault Inlet, with calm waters and parklands rich with mangroves and birdlife. Next, head south to Busselton with its 19th Century Busselton Jetty. This wooden pier stretches nearly 2km to an Underwater Observatory, where you descend 8 metres beneath the water’s surface to view the life of a coral reef. From here, continue your journey south to Margaret River and your accommodation.

DAY SEVEN – MARGARET RIVER

Today is a sensory overload of wonderful food, wine, and scenery. Leave the hire car behind and join your private tour of Margaret River, where an expert local guide takes you through this flavour-filled region. Kick start the day at Yahava Koffee Works before indulging in incredible wines from Margaret River’s award-winning wineries. Go behind the scenes for exclusive tastings, relax in the scenic vineyards, and enjoy fantastic hospitality. To balance your day, sample the sensational local produce with cheese tastings at Margaret River Dairy Company, olive oil and condiments at Olio Bello, and of course, chocolate from the much-loved Margaret River Chocolate Company.
