Day 1 (Sunday)


A leisurely mid-morning departure from Perth aboard the Indian Pacific is soon followed by a regionally inspired lunch with views of the beautiful patchwork hills of the Avon Valley. The soft, green rolling hills slowly give way to the harsher, but every bit as striking, desert plains. Enjoy a pre-dinner drink and socialising with fellow guests in anticipation of your late-night arrival into the landmark township of Kalgoorlie, where you can experience an Off Train Excursion. Relax in the comfort of your cabin and drift off to sleep. (L,D)

Day 2 (Monday)


Arrive refreshed and eager for a superb sunrise on the Nullarbor. Later that day, alight the train and experience the extraordinary and ever so slightly eerie ghost town of Cook. Watch the passing parade of ever-changing landscape over dinner and share stories with old friends and new in the lounge. (B,L,D)

Day 3 (Tuesday)


Wake to a dramatic change of scenery as the train approaches the food and wine capital of Adelaide. Transfer to your accommodation. The afternoon is yours to familiarise yourself with this beautiful city. Visit Rundle Mall for a spot of shopping or take the tram to the seaside suburb of Glenelg.

Day 4 (Wednesday)


Fly from Adelaide Airport to Kingscote Airport where you will be met by your guide and your Kangaroo Island experience begins. Get an introduction to Island life. Have a cuppa with some home-made cakes before taking a walk down a country track through tall eucalyptus trees where koalas snooze overhead. Travel through some of the Island’s best farming country to the north coast. At Lathami Conservation Park walk quietly through the bush with your guide. Break for lunch and enjoy a delicious meal featuring King George whiting (local sea fish) and fine South Australian wines at a private bush location. At Seal Bay Conservation Park walk among Australian sea lions on a beautiful sandy beach. The remainder of the afternoon is spent exploring more of the south-east region of the Island with destinations and experiences chosen to reflect seasonal opportunities. (B,L,D)

Day 5 (Thursday)


Today explore some of Kangaroo Island’s highlights and lesser known backtracks of Flinders Chase National Park - a wilderness covering nearly 200,000 acres, home to a wide array of wildlife. The drive down to Cape du Couedic takes in dramatic dune country with a complex fire history and an interesting range of vegetation. At Cape du Couedic observe a colony of fur seals at rest on the rocks or frolicking in the surf under Admirals Arch. Next stop Remarkable Rocks - huge natural granite sculptures that have been carved by relentless winds, rain and salt from the Southern Ocean. Local wines and produce are a feature of your picnic lunch, which can be enjoyed out in the bush before exploring more of the Island. Your tour concludes at Kingscote Airport for your return flight to Adelaide. (B,L)

Day 6 (Friday)


The Adelaide Central Market Discovery Tour takes you on a sensory, interactive gourmet experience, giving you an opportunity to eat delicious tastings that represent the premium food grown and produced in South Australia. Tours are designed by one of South Australia’s noted food experts, Mark Gleeson. With over 30 years’ experience in the food tourism and hospitality industries, Gleeson’s knowledge of South Australia’s finest produce market is second to none. Meet some locals, enjoy their hospitality and discover the true South Australia. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (B)

Day 7 (Saturday)


Depart the city and take the coastal route to the Fleurieu Peninsula. The beautiful mid-south coast, with its glistening vistas of Gulf St Vincent and pristine beaches, greets you on  your arrival in McLaren Vale wine region. Pass through rolling vineyards to visit up to five beautiful wineries in the Vale. Each one is steeped in history, with friendly, knowledgeable staff happy to guide you through each wine tasting experience. Best known for Shiraz, the region excels with Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, as well as Spanish and Italian varieties such as Fiano, Vermentino, Tempranillo, Mouvedre, Nero d’Avola and Sangiovese. Day 8 (Sunday)


Your holiday concludes this morning after breakfast, or why not stay a little longer and explore all that South Australia has to offer. (B)
